Engelberg is more of a town than a village and is a great resort that has reliable snow on high shady slopes. Surprisingly Engelberg is also vastly underrated and relatively unknown, particularly as it has one of the longest vertical drops, 2000m from the top of the lift system to the town. It is popular however with the Swiss and is the favourite choice for family holidays in Central Switzerland.<br /><br />The skiing in Engelberg is huge, there is also a terrain park with a half pipe and with quick access from Zurich airport it is a good choice for a winter break.
